3,500 to Ride in Portland's Worst Day of the Year Ride
February 2, 2012 Portland, Ore. - On February 12, 2012, 3,500 bundled-up cyclists will depart from the Lucky Lab, 915 SE Hawthorne, on the 11th annual Worst Day of the Year Ride, an 18-mile odyssey around Portland. The annual bicycle ride features belly-warming drinks on the route and a finish line feast of fresh soups and bread in support of the Community Cycling Center. Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Renews Funding for Safe Routes to School
January 19, 2012 Boulder, CO – (January 5, 2012) The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) has provided a three-year renewal grant of $2,999,725 to the Safe Routes to School National Partnership, a diverse, nationwide coalition of more than 550 organizations. The grant will support the National Partnership’s efforts to advance Safe Routes to School, a federal program that creates safe, convenient and fun opportunities for U.S. children to walk and bicycle to and from school. Opus Bikes Carbon Fork Recall
January 14, 2012 January 11, 2012 - Opus Bikes is issuing a recall for the ORA Carbon forks found on its 2011 Scherzo, Andante, Alto, and Alegria model bicycles. It has come to our attention that some of the forks installed on these models may not meet impact test standards. Repeated or sudden impacts may cause the dropouts to separate from the carbon legs of the fork. There have been no reported incidents or injuries as of this date. Read More

Chariot Carriers Recalls Child Bicycle Trailers and Conversion Kits
January 14, 2012 WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of the 44,000 Chariot bicycle trailers and 70,000 bicycle trailer conversion kits. The bicycle trailer’s hitch mechanisms can crack and break, causing the trailer to detach from the bicycle. This poses an injury hazard to children in the bicycle trailer. Read More

Adventure Company, "Beercycling," Expands to the Netherlands in 2012
January 6, 2012 Portland, Ore. – www.Beercycling.com has announced the addition of new 10‐day cycling tours of the Netherlands, starting in the spring of 2012. These beer, food, and cycling inspired tours complement and expand upon their already established offerings in northern Belgium. The dates for the inaugural tour of the Netherlands will be from April 19th to 28th, 2012. An additional tour then follows in the summer, from July 12th to July 21st, 2012. Read More

Pactimo Supports Rebuilding in Haiti via HOPE Worldwide
December 19, 2011 Greenwood Village, Colo. - Pactimo is partnering with HOPE worldwide to support the continuing rebuilding of Haiti in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake. The seismic event and its many aftershocks destroyed large swaths of the capitol, killed thousands, and left up to one million homeless.
