Pactimo Develops Articulated Bibs with Silhouette™ Engineering

November 7, 2012

Greenwood Village, Colo. – Pactimo, a leading provider of premium technical athletic apparel, unveiled Silhouette™ Engineering in their 2013 Ascent and Summit line cycling bib shorts for men and women. The innovative design construction introduces a unique articulation, coupled with a sleek strap and front panel design, that will allow riders to enjoy longer rides with less material bunching, chaffing and discomfort.

"Typically, people try on bib shorts and stand up to gauge the fit. With our new Silhouette™ engineered bibs, they might actually think the fit is awkward when standing," said Tiffany Howell, Global Operations Manager at Pactimo. "They may feel their shoulders being slightly pulled down and forward. But, when that same person leans over into their natural riding position, they'll see that the bib has been specifically designed for an exceptional, on-bike, performance fit."

Pactimo has been developing and perfecting Silhouette™ Engineering for nearly two years, and it is just one of the several technical innovations unveiled in the 2013 custom and retail lines.

"We are always working with professional athletes and teams in what we call a 'road lab' setting," said Karl Heidgen, Vice President of Sales at Pactimo. "We solicit feedback and listen to performance suggestions, not only from champions like Laura Van Gilder and Brad Huff, but from all of our teams. Their input and ongoing wear-testing is what allows us to develop something like Silhouette™ Engineering. And, there's no question, these bibs have been designed for riding."

Along with Silhouette™ Engineering in bibs for both men and women, Pactimo has made technical enhancements to nearly 60% of apparel across all product lines, to include a completely redesigned Summit Speed time-trial or criterium jersey. Using Pactimo's proprietary TotalFit™ design technology, the new Summit Speed jersey incorporates three high-performance fabrics to ensure a performance-enhancing, streamlined fit.

"To say we've 'improved' things is a bit of a misnomer. We are always improving and reengineering products," Howell said. "And, we have worked very hard over the last two years to align our custom and retail lines so that all our cycling customers, whether they be professionals or leisure riders, have cutting-edge cycling apparel available to them at great prices."
