Exhibitor Registration Opens for the Providence Cyclo-cross Festival
August 18, 2010
Providence, R.I. (Aug. 18, 2010) – Registration for exhibitors has opened for the Providence Cyclo-cross Festival Presented by Interbike. Retailers and exhibitors will again converge on Roger Williams Park this fall for the fourth annual bicycle trade show that targets both retailers and consumers of the Northeast.
The expo will be held as part of the Providence Cyclo-cross Festival Presented by Interbike, Oct. 8-10, 2010. The event will feature a dealer-only day on Friday, Oct. 8, followed by a two day consumer expo held in the infield of a UCI cyclo-cross event.
“Forty percent of the U.S. bike market is in the Northeast, and a great deal of those retailers do not make the trip to the Las Vegas Interbike,” said Richard Fries, marketing communications director of the event. “We’re offering an affordable means to reach those bike shops and consumers in this fantastic venue.”
Interbike’s parent company has opted to sponsor and attend the event while leaving the production of the event to GSD Event Productions LLC, which has experience producing national and international caliber cyclo-cross events.
“We are very excited to be the presenting sponsor of the second annual Providence Cyclo-cross Festival. Interbike has a vested interest in supporting industry growth, and we feel ‘cross is a category that has huge potential to bring new enthusiasts to cycling and provide future sales opportunities for retailers across the country. While we are not organizing the event directly, after we saw the strong consumer response last year we wanted to stay involved,” said Andy Tompkins, show director for Interbike.
The expo is being managed by a team with considerable experience in both cyclo-cross and trade shows. That team includes:
· Christopher Zigmont will oversee the recruitment of retailers and booth sales for the event. Best known has having served as CEO of Pedro’s USA, Zigmont has worked for Mavic USA, Mountainsmith, Powertap, Specialized, and Montague. He also did considerable marketing outreach for the Super Cup Cyclo-cross series between 1998 and 2001. Most recently Zigmont assisted Lifeboat Events with the promotion of its Dealer Camp and Press Camp events.
· Kathy Sarvary will also be serving as an account rep. A two-time World Champion in cyclo-cross, Sarvary spent more than 15 years as an account executive with Sun Life. She recently stepped down from that post to pursue her passion for cycling by purchasing the established Nault’s Cyclery in Manchester, N.H., which is re-branding as Blue Steel Cyclery.
