Sisters Mt. Bike Festival Coming October 1-3, 2010

Sisters, Ore. – The Sisters Trail Alliance and the Sisters School Foundation are sponsoring a fund raising mountain bike event during Central Oregon’s beautiful Indian summer. The rides will range from a 50 mile epic ride, to several intermediate rides to family rides of 7 to 15 miles. An all women’s ride is also planned. The rides will be signed and supported with refreshment/aid stations along the routes. All rides will utilize parts of the newly dedicated Peterson Ridge trail system which begins at the edge of Sisters. [Please note that the Peterson Ridge Trail system escaped undamaged from the recent Rooster Rock fire.]
Aside from the trail riding these other activities will occur:
- A packaged lunch from Three Creeks Brewing for the trail as well as a beverage of your choice after the ride.
- A catered dinner on Saturday evening by Thyme Restaurant.
- Music at Saturday’s dinner.
- Music and dancing at nearby Three Creeks Brewing.
- Vendors will have displays of bike products and bikes available for demonstration rides.
- A free ticket to the Sisters Movie House.
- Free use of the Sisters Athletic Club Free time to explore the town of Sisters.
- Free time to explore the town of Sisters.
- Sunday morning breakfast in Sister’s Village Green Park.
The cost of the event is $125 per adult (increasing to $150 after August 31st); $50 for children 7 to 17; children 6 and under free. To register go to www.ORBike.com.
The Sisters Mt. Bike Festival is the brainchild of Jerry Norquist, the executive director of Cycle Oregon who lives in Sisters. The Sisters Schools Foundation's mission is to raise funds to save, enhance and perpetuate programs in Sisters Schools. The Sisters Trail Alliance exists to promote non-mechanized travel and has been responsible for building 20 miles of mountain bike trails in the last two years and is supporting the development of the road based Three Sisters Bikeway System. A portion of the registration fee will be tax deductible.
