August 18, 2010
Olympia, Wash. (Aug. 16, 2010) – A national contest sponsored by Coca Cola invites you to vote for your favorite state park by Aug. 31. The park that gets the most votes will receive a cash award of $100,000 for park improvements. The National Park Foundation and America's State Parks program shared contest information with state parks systems around the country.
The company's "live positively" campaign has been encouraging families to get out and enjoy the healthful benefits of activity in state and national parks around the country. In a statement, Coca Cola says it's been supporting national parks for 40 years, through donations and trail building.
Why not vote for your favorite Washington state park? You can vote as many times as you like until Aug. 31, at www.livepositively.com/#/americasparks/vote.
The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission thanks the public for supporting state parks. Donations made to State Parks through the vehicle license tab renewal program will keep state parks open in the 2009-2011 budget cycle, provided adequate revenues are collected. The Commission manages a diverse system of more than 100 state parks and recreation programs, including long-distance trails, boating safety and winter recreation. The 97-year-old park system will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2013.
