San Leandro, Calif. (August 3, 2010) — The North Face today announced The North Face® Trailhead App, powered by EveryTrail, a free, easy-to-use application for locating trails, tracking progress and sharing adventures all over the world.
The North Face Trailhead Application locates trails, including hiking loops, bike routes, backcountry ski trails and more, based on location. Users can easily search by activity, activity length and other user ratings. Route, distance, speed and elevation are captured in real-time for quick sharing with friends and family via Facebook, Twitter, and www.EveryTrail.com.
“The North Face is focused on enabling exploration and has a proud tradition of leading the outdoor industry in innovation and inspiration to get outdoors,” said Aaron Carpenter, vice president of marketing for The North Face. “We are excited to introduce this first of a kind offering at no cost to give hikers, runners and mountain bikers the information they need when hitting the trails this summer.”
The North Face Trailhead Application features route tracking with a real-time interactive map via GPS that monitors distance, speed and elevation. Users can search trips by location, activity or user ratings and, upon selecting the trail, can instantly view driving directions to the trailhead.
“It makes it easy to find out where the trails are on the fly, and tells me everything I need to know before I get there,” said Sage Cattabriga-Alosa of The North Face Athlete Team. “Sharing my latest ride with elevation and photos is a super cool way to connect with the crew and get us stoked out on the next ride.”
Integrated features allow Trailhead App users to share trails, photos and stories from the road quickly in one post to friends, family and other users via Facebook, Twitter or EveryTrail.com.
“Everytrail.com content delivers the world’s greatest trail information, and we are thrilled The North Face selected us to power The North Face Trailhead app with this information,” said Katherine Bose, vice president,
business development & marketing, EveryTrail. “The North Face is further enabling users, especially mobile users, with an easy way to learn about the great trails in their backyards, complete with driving directions to the trailhead, so they can get outdoors and explore.”
