DAKINE to Debut Spring 2010 Bike Collection at Interbike
Collection receives numerous updates and more than 15 brand new styles.

Hood River, Ore. – DAKINE, the leader in action sports accessories, will preview its spring ’10 bike collection to media and retailers attending the Interbike trade show in Las Vegas, Nev. beginning on September 23, 2009, at booth number 4625. The collection will be available for purchase at DAKINE retailers beginning in January 2010.
DAKINE’s solid team of pro team riders drive the direction and design of the company’s product line. Riders include Darren Berrecloth, Ben Boyko, Jamie Goldman, Geoff Gulevich, Matt Hunter, Emily Johnston, Mike Kinrade, Steve Romaniuk, Andrew Shandro, Wade Simmons, Katrina Strand, Darcy Turenne, and Thomas Vanderham.
For spring ’10, DAKINE expands their line of technical riding apparel with the Blitz Jacket. The Blitz Jacket is a lightweight, packable, nylon dobby jacket that is rated at 10,000mm/10,000mm waterproof/breathability. The water resistant front zipper keeps the elements out, while the flow-through zippered mesh venting on the chest and back yoke ensures maximum ventilation. The jacket’s bottom hem is adjustable by drawcord, the cuffs by tabs and the oversized hood is also adjustable and helmet compatible. The Blitz Jacket is available in black or bomber (shown), MSRP is $135.00.
Another new addition is the Boundary Short. The Boundary Short offers an all-mountain fit with a 14” inseam. the 70D micro corded nylon offers durability while the polyester birds eye inner-waistband offers comfort and wicks moisture. The Boundary Short includes details such as side waist tab adjustments, zippered mesh inner leg vents and side pockets and a crotch gusset to increase range of motion. The Boundary Short is sold with a removable chamois liner. It features a non-abrasive brushed elastic waistband, an Italian-made Dolomiti pad and a 13” inseam. MSRP is $125.00.
DAKINE now offers technical riding shorts designed specifically for women riders. The Siren Short offers an all-mountain fit with a 12” inseam. Tailored to a female body, it is constructed of 70D micro corded nylon and polyester birdseye inner-waistband and a removable chamois liner with an 8” inseam. The Siren Short will retail for $120.00. The Mode Short offers a freeride fit and is made of a 160D plain weave nylon with a polyester birdseye waistband, ventilated moisture-wicking mesh lining and a heavyweight rib knit back stretch panel. The inseam measures 13.75” and the outseam is accented with three silver snaps, the bottom two of which are functional. The Mode Short also features side waist tab adjustments, zippered inner leg vents and a removable recoil pass pocket. MSRP is $85.00.
DAKINE’s guy’s and girl’s bike jersey collections feature a variety of cuts, colors, prints and mesh venting systems. All of DAKINE’s bike jerseys have an eyewear chamois sewn into the left interior sideseam and have an AEGIS Microbe Shield anti-bacterial fabric treatment. The guy’s jerseys retail between $40.00 and $45.00, and the girl’s jerseys retail between $35.00 and $45.00.
The spring ’10 bike glove collection features styles for guys and girls, and has received several new additions. One style, a golf-inspired glove, the guy’s Fairway is built of Durafuse waterproof breathable leather on the palm and back panel. Features include knuckle flex panels, terrycloth thumb panels and a hook and loop closure. MSRP is $45.00.
New to the pack category are the AMP 25L and the Girl’s AMP 18L. The AMP 25L is a large volume all mountain hydration pack. The AMP 25L comes with a 3L Hydrapak reservoir and features a deployable rain cover. Zippered mesh rolling access side pockets, load compression straps, a fleece lined sunglass pocket and expandable XC helmet carry allow for easy and efficient storage of bike gear and goods. A molded back panel Air Channel Ventilation system helps to increase comfort and breathability. The Girl’s AMP 18L is a slightly smaller pack with a contoured harness designed specifically to fit a girl’s frame and includes the same core features as the guy’s version. The AMP 25L MSRP is $125.00 and the Girls AMP18L MSRP is $110.00.
The Rider’s Duffle is a new lightweight gear bag for stowing all your riding essentials from home to the trail and back. The u-shaped opening allows for easy access, the tarp lined side pockets allow for worry-free storage and a removable padded shoulder strap gives users an alternate option to the dual carry handles. MSRP is $60.00.
A new collection of commuter packs offers all the organizational solutions you’ve come to expect from DAKINE, for the bike-to-work crowd. The Commuter pack has a volume of 31.5L and features a padded laptop sleeve, a deployable rain fly, reflective details, a fleece lined sunglass pocket, water bottle pocket and expandable helmet pocket. The Commuter even touts a tarp lined shoe pocket on the bottom of the pack. The top wall of the shoe pocket is convertible by zipper, so the full volume of the pack can be used when needed. The Commuter MSRP is $110.00. The Cyclone Roll Top is a simplistic yet sturdy dry pack. The heavy duty vinyl is constructed with waterproof welding and the roll top closure provides a waterproof seal. The 36L pack is available in black and MSRP is $100.00. The Messenger and Exchange are cross-body style bags. Each bag features internal organizer pockets, a padded shoulder strap and a removable waistbelt. The Messenger’s padded laptop sleeve is accessed externally and it is offered in two volumes large-20L and small-15L, retailing for $70.00 and $65.00, respectively. The Exchange is offered in a 22L volume and its padded laptop sleeve is accessed internally; MSRP is $50.00.
